1. Scope
This Privacy Policy describes how TypeDash handles information when you use our website and desktop application.
TYPEDASH SOFTWARE LTD is the UK company responsible for this information (the data controller). Our registered office is International House, 55 Longsmith Street, Gloucester, England, GL1 2HT.

2. Core Data Handling Model
TypeDash processes speech recognition on your device. When ChatGPT Cleanup is enabled, eligible transcribed text is sent to your connected ChatGPT account for processing. You can configure the word-count threshold that controls when Cleanup runs.
- We do not store your audio recordings on our servers.
- We do not store your transcript text on our servers.
- We do not retain message content you create with the app.
These statements describe routine app dictation. If you choose to send us text, recordings or other information as feedback or a support request, we handle that correspondence separately. Account, access and website request information also involves online processing, as explained below.
3. Information We Do Collect
We collect limited account and service metadata needed to operate authentication and service access, including:
- Account email addresses and authentication/account identifiers supplied through Clerk.
- Basic billing/subscription status from our payment/auth vendors.
- Technical logs needed for security, fraud prevention, and uptime.
- Feedback, feature requests and support correspondence you choose to send us.
4. How We Use Information
- To authenticate users, secure accounts and manage service access.
- To respond to questions, investigate problems and improve TypeDash.
- To maintain platform security, reliability and legal compliance.
We may occasionally use your account email address to ask about your experience, problems, feature requests or reasons for no longer using TypeDash. This may include users who have stopped using the app. These requests are for genuine feedback, without sales or promotional content.
5. Lawful Bases
We process account and access information where necessary to provide the service you request, on the basis of performing our contract with you. We also process information where necessary to meet legal obligations.
For occasional feedback requests and handling your responses, we rely on legitimate interests in understanding users' experiences and improving TypeDash. We consider whether this use is necessary and proportionate, and balance it against your interests, rights and reasonable expectations. We also have legitimate interests in protecting the service and answering enquiries.
6. Optional Feedback and Your Choice
Feedback is completely optional. You do not have to reply, and choosing not to provide feedback does not affect your access to TypeDash.
You can ask us to stop sending feedback requests at any time. Reply to a feedback email or contact [email protected]. We will respect that request. This is separate from essential account, security or service notices.
Please avoid sending sensitive personal information or information about other people unless it is needed to explain your issue. This policy does not treat account registration or feedback as consent to promotional emails.
7. Third-Party Services
We use third-party providers to run core platform features:
- Clerk for accounts, authentication, identity management and existing subscription billing.
- Cloudflare for website hosting, downloads, request infrastructure and access services.
- Stripe for payment processing where you use a paid checkout.
- Google for hosted website fonts and correspondence sent to our Gmail contact address.
- ChatGPT Cleanup sends eligible transcribed text, not audio, to your connected ChatGPT account when you enable it. You control the word-count threshold. OpenAI's privacy policy and your ChatGPT account settings apply to that processing.
Your use of those services may be subject to their own terms and privacy policies.
8. International Processing
Our providers may process information outside the UK, including in the United States. Not all personal information is processed locally on your device. Providers publish details of their international transfer safeguards, including applicable adequacy arrangements and contractual protections for UK transfers: Clerk's data processing terms, Cloudflare's data processing terms, Google's transfer frameworks and Stripe's privacy policy.

9. Data Retention
We retain account and operational metadata only as long as necessary for service delivery, legal obligations, dispute resolution, and security.
For feedback and support correspondence, we consider whether we still need it to answer you, resolve an issue or inform relevant improvements. We also consider any legal obligations or unresolved disputes. When identifiable feedback is no longer needed for these purposes, we delete it or remove identifying details.
We keep the minimum contact-preference information needed to respect requests for no further feedback emails. You can ask about retention or request deletion using the contact details below.
10. Your Data Protection Rights
Under UK data protection law, depending on the circumstances and lawful basis, you can request:
- Access to your personal information and a copy of it.
- Correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Deletion of information we no longer need or cannot lawfully retain.
- Restriction of how we use your information.
- Transfer of information you provided, where the right to data portability applies.
You can object to processing based on legitimate interests, including our use of your account email for feedback requests. We will stop feedback requests when you ask. For other legitimate-interests processing, we will consider your objection and the applicable legal requirements.
Contact [email protected] to exercise your rights. We may need to verify your identity before disclosing or changing account information.
You can also complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/. You do not have to contact us before exercising your right to complain.
11. Security
We apply reasonable technical and organizational safeguards. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Children
TypeDash is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child provided personal data, contact us and we will review removal requests as required by law.
13. Policy Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be explained on this page with the actual publication date. Where a change materially affects how we use your information, we will notify affected users directly by email or a prominent service notice.
The October 11, 2026 update clarifies optional feedback requests, account email use, retention criteria and your choices and rights. It does not imply that this explanation was provided before earlier feedback emails.
